“Basic 5″ Fall Risk Reduction exercises…

Uncategorized Add comments

If you are concerned about an aging parent, a loved one, or yourself, Take 5 to Exercise is the answer you’ve been looking for.   A new approach to Senior Exercise Videos, I coach viewers through exercises as if they were having an individualized session with a Personal Fitness trainer because I am a Certified Personal fitness trainer!!!  One who specializes in senior fitness, stability, balance, and mobility.

At an easy to follow along with pace, I provide verbal cueing to remind people to focus on specific body parts, helping to establish a solid mind-to-muscle connection.  I remind viewers to breathe as we exert effort.  As we are executing movements, I explain how this relates to reducing the risk of a fall since each exercise is intended to work a specific muscle group.

Although each DVD focuses on a different component of an effective Fall Prevention Exercise program, there are 5 exercises that I repeat throughout the series and I call them my “Basic 5 Stretches” and they are:
1.  Take 5 Hand Squeeze
2.  3 Circles:  Wrist, Arm, Ankle
3.  Leg Extension
4.  Hamstring stretch
5.  Kegal Squeeze
I encourage viewers to incorporate these 5 movements into their daily routine because the Basic 5 Stretches are not only good Fall Prevention Exercises but also good for anyone who sits for long periods of time.  Practicing these movements promotes circulation throughout the body.
Like all my seated exercises, I encourage viewers to do these 5 movements while in proper seated position and while using good form.  Make sure to order my Take 5 to Exercise fall risk reduction series and discover how each of the Basic 5 stretches is essential to your total body balance.
